NEW HANOVER COUNTY — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office arrested a local man for supplying heroin to an overdose victim.
On Aug. 31, deputies responded to an overdose death on Patsy Lane in Wilmington. An investigation led the deputies to English, who they found had been the victim’s heroin supplier.
The sheriff’s office and deputies from the Bureau of Tobacco, Alcohol, Firearms and Explosives arrested English, along with two women charged with other drug-related offenses.
English was found in possession of heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine at the time of his arrest. He was charged with death by distribution, a Class C felony that carries up to 19 years in prison. English was also charged with possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine, conspiracy to sell/deliver heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was denied bond.
Tamara Nelson and Mackenzie Nelson were charged with possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine, conspiracy to sell/deliver heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were given a 509,000 secure bond and 505,000 bond, respectively.
