Pedestrian listed in stable condition after train accident

WILMINGTON — On Tuesday right after midnight, the Wilmington Police Department responded to a “train vs. pedestrian” accident. The department has not noted the incident took place at Martin Street and 5th Avenue.

A 63-year-old female was found next to the railroad tracks, the WPD reported. Suffering from severe leg injuries, which were life-threatening, she was taken to Novant Health-NHRMC.

WPD noted in a release she is in stable condition and they are teaming up with CSX police to further look into the accident.

Anyone with information involving the accident are asked to call 910-343-3609 or send a message to 847411 using the keyword “WPDNC.” The public can also use the Tip 411 app.
