Donation drive to help 150 displaced families changes drop-off location

NEW HANOVER COUNTY – Local government agencies, nonprofits and organizations have partnered to encourage donations for 150 local families who were displaced from mold remediation through the Wilmington Housing Authority. 

Saturday’s drive, scheduled to take place 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., will be accepting the collection of new or gently used furniture and select household items. The event is hosted by New Hanover County, Wilmington Housing Authority, City of Wilmington, Good Shepherd Center, Leading into New Communities (LINC), and the Resiliency Task Force.

Items needed include sofas, loveseats, coffee tables, end tables, lamps, arm chairs, dining tables, dining chairs, bed frames, nightstands, dressers, bookshelves, dishes, kitchen and cooking utensils, cups and glasses, mugs, pots and pans, baking sheets, baking pans, and small appliances. 

New items such as toilet paper, bed sheets, and so on can also be donated (see the full list here).

The drop-off location has been changed to 1002 Princess St.

Another drive will take place at the same location on Saturday, Mar. 26, 10 a.m. -2 p.m.
