Woman arrested following Friday hit-and-run

WILMINGTON — A suspect has been arrested in reference to a possible hit and run Feb. 11.

Around 6:53 p.m., Wilmington Police Department officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Queen Street. Upon arrival, they discovered a vehicle that had been hit and badly damaged.

A female and two small children were located in a nearby vehicle. Officers discovered drug paraphernalia in the car and arrested 24-year-old D’Angela Durant. When placed in the back of the patrol vehicle, Durant tried to kick out the window, according to a WPD release.

Durant is being charged with DWI, hit-and-run, possession schedule II control substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, child abuse, and resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer.

Durant was transported to New Hanover County detention center and held on a $12,500 secured bond.
