Nominations for YWCA Women of Achievement Awards close Friday

WILMINGTON — The YWCA opened nominations for its 36th annual Women of Achievement Awards at the beginning of November. Submissions close Friday, Jan. 7.

For over 30 years, YWCA Lower Cape Fear has celebrated over 400 females for their contributions in advocacy and social justice, arts and culture, business, education, health and wellness, and public service. They also have given the Rachel Freeman Unsung Hero and Trailblazer awards.

Two awards are bestowed upon young leaders: Young Leadership Scholarship Award and Student Impact Grant. Each offers financial support for higher education or toward research related to YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.

The annual awards ceremony will be held during Women’s History Month, Mar. 3, 2022. More information can be found at https://www.ywca-lowercapefear.org/nominate.
