WILMINGTON –– Wilmington Police Department officers arrested Terry Joequill Wilson, 22, after he turned himself in. Wilson was wanted by WPD for two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill or inflict serious injury.
He is being held under a $1 million secured bond for larceny of a firearm and a $150,000 secured bond for a probation violation.
Around 3 a.m. Aug. 11 officers found one victim with at least two gunshot wounds in the road at Anderson and Rankin streets. The victim was transported to the hospital. An officer and K9 unit searched the surrounding area after receiving calls about a second victim. No additional victims were located during the search but an individual with a gunshot wound arrived at the hospital later that evening, according to WPD.
WPD detectives and members of the Cape Fear Regional Special Teams conducted a search at Wilson’s house on Aug. 12 around 1 p.m. Wilson was not there.
“We want to thank the Wilmington community for their help in this case. Our detectives received several tips from citizens that helped us identify the suspect,” Cheif Donny Williams said in a press release. “Our WPD investigators worked tirelessly and I am grateful for their hard work and dedication. I also want to thank the U.S. Marshals Service and the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office who worked together with us to apprehend Wilson. It is important that we all continue to work together as a community to ensure that victims receive the justice that they deserve.”
