Wednesday morning shooting leaves one person hospitalized

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department responded to a shooting at Rankin and Anderson streets on Wednesday morning. One person was wounded and transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center; he is expected to survive, according to police.

Multiple reports of shots fired were reported in the area, a release from WPD noted. When officers arrived they found a victim in the road with at least two gunshot wounds.

The officers extensively searched the area with K9s, after receiving calls about a second victim. Yet, no additional victims were found.
