Carolina Beach resident charged with sexual exploitation of a minor

CAROLINA BEACH — On Friday, Feb. 12, the Carolina Beach Police Department arrested registered sex offender Michael Anthony Wilson with third-degree sexual exploitation of minor.

Wilson’s arrest came after the CDPD received a tip from the NC Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in regards to material of sex abuse of a minor that was shared on the web. Carolina Beach detective B. Smith conducted an investigation before executing the search warrant at 300 Canal Dr., Unit#1 where a 36-year-old male resided.

Wilson was processed at the CBPD before being transported to the New Hanover County Jail. He’s being held under a $100,000 secured bond.
