WILMINGTON — DermOne has decided to exit the healthcare market nationwide.

Earlier this week, Port City Daily reported that several DermOne locations in North Carolina, Texas, Virginia and New Jersey would no longer offer services after March 9.

“We actually just found out last Thursday, which is why we weren’t able to notify our patients until earlier this week,” said Lisa Lennert, office manager for Dr. Jonathan Crane.

The DermOne dermatology offices in Jacksonville, Southport and the Wilmington location in Mayfaire Town Center will be closing. However, the DermOne-affliated Scarless Vein Care in Mayfaire will continue to offer vein care services.

The DermOne dermatology locations in Burgaw, Clinton and the Wilmington location on Medical Center Drive will continue to offer dermatology services, just under a different practice name.

On Monday, March 12, doctors Jonathan Crane and Chris Cook will open as Crane Dermatology Associates at 1099 Medical Center Drive in Wilmington.

“Other than a group name change, our dermatology patients should not notice anything  except our consistent striving for excellence,” Crane said.

Crane noted that, although DermOne may be cancelling existing appointments, patients should keep those appointments or come into the office to get information.

“As the phone lines have been backed up after the news of DermOne, any patients with a problem should just come by the office and we are glad to help,” Crane said.

If clients need to access medical records, they will be available here until March 9. After March 9, medical records will be transferred to Crane Dermatology Associates, which will serve as the medical records custodian.

If patients need to receive a copy of medical records or need them transferred to another physician, they should contact Jonathan Crane at 910-251-9944.
