
SOUTHPORT — Amanda Sauls has been named the new Headmaster of Classical Charter Schools of Southport, a tuition-free charter school established in 2014 that currently serves around 560 students in kindergarten through eighth grade.

Sauls holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education and joined the CCS-America family of schools in 2017 as a teacher at CCS-Wilmington, where she became lead teacher in 2018. She then served as operations coordinator at CCS-Southport starting in 2023 and as assistant headmaster in 2024, also acting as interim headmaster for two months at the end of the 2024-2025 school year.
Steve Smith, Lead Headmaster of the Classical Charter Schools of America network, praised Sauls’s experience and leadership.
“Mrs. Sauls has successfully led the middle school at CCS-Southport and is well-versed in the unique educational program in place at our family of schools,” Smith stated. “She is devoted to the students and focuses all her attention on ensuring they succeed.”
“It’s an honor to serve the Classical Charter Schools of Southport community as Headmaster,” Sauls stated. “I am excited to continue working alongside our excellent curriculum staff to mentor and lead an outstanding team of educators. My goal is to serve our staff, parents, and students. Together, we will continue the tradition of excellence that defines CCS-America and our system’s nationally ranked classical curriculum and instructional methods.”
Smith added, “We are confident that her unique blend of talents and warm personality will ensure that Classical Charter Schools of Southport continues to flourish.”
