WILMINGTON — Angela Teresa Young, aged 90, of Wilmington, NC, passed away on July 12, 2025, in the same city where her journey began. Born on November 25, 1934, Angela’s life was a testament to resilience, generosity, and a deep love for her community.
Angela graduated from New Hanover High School in 1953, marking the beginning of a legacy as the second in four generations of her family to do so. Her dedication and commitment extended into her professional life, where she managed Hardee’s restaurants in Wilmington, Burgaw, and Raleigh.
Her passions were many, but she found particular joy in gardening and reading, activities that reflected her nurturing nature and intellectual curiosity. A devoted volunteer at Vintage Values in Wilmington, Angela gave freely of her time, embodying her belief in the power of giving back.
Angela’s compassion and strength were evident to all who knew her. She had an unwavering will to never give up, coupled with a heart that was perpetually generous and giving.
She was preceded in death by her father, David Elijah Jones; mother, Mazelle Humphries Jones; and sisters, Sharon Marshburn, Cecilia Wyman, and Penny Landen. She leaves behind a family who cherished her dearly. Her children, Allen Young and wife JoAnn, Marty Young, and Brian Young. Angela had five grandchildren: Erik Schettig (Sydney), Justin Young (Valerie), Mason Schettig, Brandon Young (Bethany), and Kristen Wigand (Ben). She also enjoyed spending time with her four great-grandchildren, Ingrid Schettig, Henry Schettig, Finley Young, and Maddie Young. Angela also leaves behind her wonderful sister, Rebecca Fullwood and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate the extraordinary life of Angela on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation. Together, we will honor her memory, share stories, and reflect on the love and joy she brought into the life of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
