Some French cinema is hitting the campus of Cape Fear Community College.
The college presents the Tournées French Film Festival, a collection of six films, from Friday, March 6, through Friday, March 13, in Room 170 in Union Station on the downtown Wilmington campus.
The weeklong event is a program of the FACE (French American Cultural Exchange) Foundation, in partnership with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, that aims to bring French cinema to U.S. colleges and universities campuses.
Each year, FACE gives nearly $200,000 in Tournées Film Festival grants across the country. CFCC was one of only two community colleges nationwide to receive a grant to host the festival. The other grant recipients in North Carolina were Duke University, UNC-Chapel Hill and UNC-Charlotte.
“We are so excited to bring this series to CFCC’s campus,” said Autumn McGimsey, CFCC global education committee chair, who applied for the grant, along with French instructor Caroline Hudson “It’s important for our students to become global citizens and to expand their perspectives beyond classroom walls. We’re happy to be able to provide this unique cultural opportunity to our students and to our community.”
