Five principals from New Hanover County Schools have been selected to participate in the 2012-2013 Distinguished Leadership in Practice (DLP) Program. DLP is sponsored by the North Carolina Principals and Assistant Principals Association in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, according to press release from the school system.
Local principals selected include Tim Dominowski, Murrayville Elementary School; Kristin Jackson, Lake Forest Academy; Patrick McCarty, Murray Middle School; Carole Piner, Anderson Elementary School; and Barbara Stock, Blair Elementary School.
The Distinguished Leadership in Practice Program is a yearlong, application-based professional development program for practicing school principals. Each of the participating NHCS principals has reached the midway point of the DLP program, completing three of the six DLP components.
The NHCS administrators will continue pursuing the DLP Program throughout the school year to complete the remaining three components of the leadership curriculum.
