Checking in with tri-county schools: 7 Covid-19 cases in New Hanover, 4 in Brunswick and 13 in Pender

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — New Hanover County Schools reported the lowest number of Covid-19 cases since October this week.

Just seven cases were documented on the NHCS public online dashboard, along with 42 quarantines.

Since Oct. 12, NHCS has recorded 995 positive cases total. Here is the breakdown for the week of May 21:

Forest Hills Elementary – 1
Freeman Elementary – 1
Howe PreK Center – 1

Myrtle Grove Middle – 1
Trask Middle – 2

Brunswick County Schools

Brunswick County Schools is reporting four active Covid-19 cases and zero cases in elementary schools. More than 125 people were quarantining out of precaution as of Friday afternoon, according to the online dashboard.

Since Aug. 21, the school system has recorded 480 positive cases overall.

South Brunswick Middle – 1

South Brunswick High – 1
West Brunswick High – 1

Pender County Schools

Pender County Schools is showing 13 Covid-19 cases and 72 quarantines for the week of May 10-16, according to the most recent update on its dashboard.

Since Aug. 1, 641 staff and students in Pender County tested positive for Covid-19.
