CAROLINA BEACH — Carolina Beach’s town council has once again agreed to the purchase of a property to help expand municipal services, making this agreement the third land purchase of 2026.
At a special meeting on August 4, town council voted to purchase a portion of property on Charlotte Avenue adjacent to the town’s fire department for $475,000. The money comes from debt service funds, rather than town reserves like previous land acquisitions. The land will also propel the town’s facility plan forward by providing space for the fire department expansion.
According to the town’s announcement, there are no plans to begin construction as of yet, though the goal is to provide on-site expansion, rather than the fire department having to move elsewhere.
“The purchase ensures the department has the flexibility to meet current operational demands and accommodate future service needs as the community grows,” Fire Chief Alan Griffin said in the release.
This is the third land purchase the town has made this year. The first was a settlement of nine properties by the boardwalk for $12 million, and the second was a nearly $1 million purchase on Bridge Barrier Road, which unanimously received the funding also at the Tuesday meeting.
