The Agenda: Meetings in local government this week

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — Every Monday Port City Daily will share upcoming government and community meetings around the tri-county region. If there’s an item of public interest, it will be included, too.

Monday, June 29

The New Hanover County Schools Curriculum Committee will meet at 4:30 p.m. in the Board of Education Center, 1805 S. 13th St. An agenda was not posted by press.

Tuesday, June 30

The Oak Island Planning Board will host a regular meeting at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers. The agenda includes a proposed text amendment to allow for a pier and event center in the commercial business district and a rezoning request for two parcels on Ocean Drive from commercial recreation to commercial business, both by petitioner Kent Jackson.

  • Vote to rescind the $0.22 cents tax rate
  • Vote to update the FY 26-27 budget and set tax rate per SB 889

The North Topsail Board of Aldermen will have a special meeting at 11:00 a.m. in the Town Hall, 2008 Loggerhead Court. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes: 

  • The mayor may request a motion to approve the FY 2026-2027 Budget 
  • Adopt Resolution 2026-03 Water Resources Development Grant 

The Surf City Town Council will meet at 6:00 p.m. in the Surf City Municipal Complex, 214 W. Florence Way. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • Adopting the FY 26-27 budget

Wednesday, July 1

The North Topsail Board of Aldermen will have a regular meeting at 11:00 a.m. in the Town Hall, 2008 Loggerhead Court. Meetings are livestreamed here. An agenda was not posted by press. 

The Surf City Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee will meet at 3:00 p.m. in Town Hall, 214 W. Florence Way. An agenda was not posted by press. 

Thursday, July 2

The Pender County Technical Review Committee will meet at 9:00 a.m. in the Pender County public assembly room, 805 South Walker Street. The agenda includes:

  • Hampstead Walmart master development plan
  • Mann Branch Duplex master development plan
  •  Coastal Beverage expansion major site development plan
  • Scotts Hill Publix major site development plan
  • Blakes Bridge Campground special use permit\
