
WILMINGTON — Duke Energy is telling its customers to be wary of a scam targeting utility customers claiming they will be impacted by a scheduled power outage.
Some customers have received messages claiming “scheduled rolling power outages” will take effect “by zip code and time” due to freeze conditions. This message is not coming from Duke Energy.
The utility company is urging customers to avoid clicking links or downloading attachments from businesses or individuals they do not know and to contact Duke Energy directly to discuss their account. Visit company communications channels for the latest updates.
