Pender County Board of Elections announces precinct changes

PENDER COUNTY — Multiple precinct changes are headed to the Pender County for the 2026 primaries.

Slated to take place Tuesday, March 3, the primary mid-term elections will have voters headed to new precinct locations. The Pender County Board of Elections made the changes due to increased accessibility, parking and amenities, it noted in a press release.

The precinct locations include:

  • Malpass Corner Elementary School, 4992 Malpass Corner Road, Burgaw — For voters previously assigned to Canetuck Community Building, Moore’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church, or Atkinson School Gym. (Atkinson School Gym will remain open only for municipal elections.)
  • Heide Trask Auxiliary Gym, 14328 NC Hwy 210, Rocky Point — Open to voters previously assigned to Long Creek Volunteer Fire Department or Cape Fear Elementary School.
  • Burgaw Middle School Gym, 500 S. Wright Street, Burgaw — For voters assigned dto assigned to the Pender County Cooperative Extension Auditorium. (The Cooperative Extension Auditorium will remain open only for municipal elections.)
  • VPenderlea Gym, 231 W H Robbins Road, Willard — For those who voted at Union Rescue Squad Building or Watha Town Hall/Community Center. (Watha Town Hall/Community Center will remain open only for municipal elections.)
  • Scotts Hill Baptist Church, 185 Scotts Hill Loop Road, Wilmington — Voters previously assigned to Wesleyan Chapel Fellowship Hall.

“We encourage voters to make note of their new precinct locations and allow extra time on Election Day to adjust for the changes,” the Pender BOE release indicated.

All voters who have new precincts will also be sent a mailer.
