
WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department wrapped a three-month investigation that led to a 25-year-old behind bars for multiple felony drug-trafficking charges.
Andrew Beard was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 9 and remains in the New Hanover County Detention Center. He has been charged with:
- Felony Trafficking in MDA/MDMA
- Trafficking in Cocaine
- PWIMSD Cocaine
- PWIMSD MDA/MDMA
- PWIMSD Marijuana
- Felony Possession of Marijuana
- Manufacture Cocaine
- Manufacture Schedule I Controlled Substance
- Felony Maintain Vehicle/Dwelling Controlled Substance
The Wilmington Police Department’s Narcotics Investigations Division (NID) execution of a search warrant in the 1100 block of Greenwood Avenue Tuesday and found multiple drugs in varied amounts, as well as four handguns, a ballistics vest and over $78,000 in cash..
Drugs included 960 grams of cocaine, nearly 1,000 grams of MDMA, 520 grams of marijuana, and several ounces of THC wax.
The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit assisted WPD in the investigation.
Beard’s first appearance in court was on Wednesday and the judge issued a $1 million secured bond.
