WPD arrests man allegedly involved in downtown shooting

WILMINGTON — A 24-year-old has been arrested in connection to a downtown shooting that took place over the weekend.

Wilmington Police Department apprehended Cameron Sidbury of Burgaw and charged him with:

  • Carrying a concealed weapon – gun
  • Going armed to the terror of the people
  • Discharging a firearm in city limits
  • Disorderly conduct by violence
  • 2 counts of assault with a deadly wapon

WPD are investigating a shooting that took place in the 100 block of North Front Street around 1 a.m. Saturday. After responding to a 911 call about an altercation between a male suspect and female, the male pulled out a firearm and shot it into the ground. A bullet fragment hit a female pedestrian nearby; the victim was treated with non-life-threatening injuries. However, the suspect fled the scene.

The police department put out an image of the suspect Monday, asking for the public’s help identifying him.

Sidbury was arrested on Monday, Aug. 11, 2025 and is currently being held without bond.
