Three arrested on drug charges in Market Street parking lot

WILMINGTON — Three individuals are facing charges after being arrested Sunday evening when Wilmington Police Department officers observed them handling narcotics in a parking lot in the 4300 block of Market Street.

Just before 8 p.m., WPD officers approached the subjects. According to the WPD, 23-year-old Jonathan Juneau attempted to flee on foot and tried to ingest a bag of fentanyl. Officers were able to stop the suspects, and all three were placed under arrest. 

While at the WPD Headquarters holding area, Juneau allegedly attempted to destroy and scatter two bags of cocaine onto the floor. An additional bag of fentanyl was also reportedly located in his wallet. Juneau is currently being held without bond at the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

Juneau has been charged with numerous offenses, including:

  • Possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver cocaine
  • Felony possession of cocaine 
  • Possession of a controlled substance in prison/jail
  • PWIMSD a schedule II controlled substance 
  • Felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance 
  • Felony obstructing justice 
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia 
  • Resist/delay/obstruct public officers

Also arrested was 20-year-old Mason Huie, who has been charged with felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, resist/delay/obstruct public officers, littering, and a parole violation. Huie was given a $5,000 secured bond for the drug charges and no bond for the parole violation.

Lastly, 22-year-old Josiah Shepard was charged with possession of marijuana paraphernalia, possession of under half an ounce of marijuana, and resist/delay/obstruct public officers. He was given a $1,200 secured bond.
