The Agenda: Government meetings this week

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — Every Monday Port City Daily will share upcoming government and community meetings around the tri-county region. If there’s an item of public interest, it will be included, too.

Monday, July 28

Pender County Commissioners will hold a special meeting at 4 p.m., 805 South Walker Street.The agenda includes adoption of an amended noise ordinance and approval of a contract and purchase order for proposal from Developmental Associates LLC for assistance in the hiring of the next County Manager. The meeting will livestream here

The Wilmington Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization’s Alternative Funding Subcommittee will hold a special meeting at 9 a.m in the WMPO Board Room, 525 N. Fourth St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • Election of subcommittee chairperson
  • Discussion on Potential Alternative Funding Options in the WMPO

Tuesday, July 29

The Pender County Board of Education will hold a committee of the whole meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the Dr. Katherine Herring Resource Center, 798 U.S. Highway 117. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • Policy Changes for Parent Organizations
  • PCS Mental Health Plan

The Wilmington Housing Authority’s Community Outreach and Resident Services Committee will be held at Hillcrest, 1402 Meares St., at 3 p.m.   

Wednesday, July 30

The Wilmington Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization Board will meet at 3 p.m in the WMPO Board Room, 525 N. Fourth St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • North Carolina State Ports Update
  • Resolution adopting the 2026-2035 State/MPO Transportation Improvement Programs

The New Hanover County Board of Education will hold an agenda review at 2 p.m. in the Board of Education Center, 1805 S. 13th St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • Renaming JC Roe Center
  • Presentation on the NHCS mental health improvement plan
  • Breach of policy and confidentiality 

Thursday, July 31

The North Carolina State Ports Authority Finance Committee will meet Thursday, July 31, at 3 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Board Room of the North Carolina Maritime Building located at 2202 Burnett Boulevard. Members of the public may join in person. It’s open to the public; an agenda was not posted by press.

The Wilmington Housing Authority’s Finance and Development Committee will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the WHA main office, 1524 S. 16th St.

The UNCW Board of Trustees will meet beginning at 11 a.m. in McNeil Hall on UNCW’s campus, 601 S. College Road. The agenda includes:
