PENDER COUNTY — Three offices in Pender County are in search of candidates this election season and will extend the filing deadline for three municipal positions in hopes of filling the seats.

On Monday, July 28, filing reopens for mayor of Atkinson, as well as commissioners for both Atkinson (unexpired) and Watha. The fees to file are $6 and it closes Friday, Aug. 1, at noon. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4.

The Pender County Board of Elections passed the resolution to extend the deadline — which originally closed Friday, July 18 — at this week’s meeting and in accordance to guidance from the N.C. State Board of Elections.
