WILMINGTON —  Free tax preparation and filing by IRS-certified volunteers will be available in New Hanover County starting Feb. 3.

Organized by the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and AARP Tax-Aide programs, the free services will be open to all county residents through April 15 at two  locations:

  • NHC Senior Resource Center, located at 2222 South College Road
  • NHC Downtown Library, located at 201 Chestnut Street on the third floor

The Carolina Beach Community Center location used in previous years will not be available this year due to renovations.

The other locations are open by appointment only on weekdays. The Senior Resource Center will provide drop-in services on Saturdays in March from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Clients are asked to complete a tax packet prior to their appointment. Packets are available at both locations during open hours.
