BRUNSWICK COUNTY — After being shuttered due to flooding from Potential Tropical Cyclone #8, an area on North Carolina 211 is reopening.

On Friday, Oct. 18, the state transportation agency said there would be traffic patterns resuming normally on the bridge at Dutchman’s Creek on the highway. Multiple areas of N.C. 211 were washed out last month.

The opening is two weeks ahead of schedule.

Crews have temporarily built another bridge “consisting of four large pipe culverts” while a permanent one is constructed as part of N.C. 211 widening project.

This opening follows the N.C. 211 bridge over the canal opening to traffic on Oct. 10.

“When the highway reopens, traffic at N.C. 133 and N.C. 87, as well Jabbertown Road, will also return to their normal traffic patterns,” NCDOT noted in a press release.
