WILMINGTON — A new member was sworn into the Cape Fear Public Utility board this week.

Leslie Hudson, a UNCW employee for the vice chancellor of business affairs team, replaces member Bill Norris. Norris stepped down from his position in May after being appointed by Wilmington City Council in 2013.

CFPUA signed a resolution earlier this spring recognizing his accounting efforts for enhancing the utility’s fiscal responsibility, maintaining its bond rating, and supporting rehabilitation and growth of the utility system and its infrastructure.

Having lived in Wilmington since 2007, Hudson “manages the University’s debt portfolio, unrestricted trust fund cash investments, and the University’s credit rating,” according to a release from CFPUA. Her term ends in 2027.

In addition to the new board member overseeing regular duties, she will serve on CFPUA’s Sustainability and Communications committees in the coming year.

Hudson has a Masters in Business Administration from University of Virginia and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science from Virginia Tech.
