NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Due to the nor’easter slated to arrive in the coastal region of North Carolina Tuesday, New Hanover County has announced early closures.

On Jan. 9, all county offices and libraries will close at 5 p.m. to ensure public and staff safety. Inclement weather is expected, especially from late afternoon through early evening. It will include wind gusts up to 55 miles per hour and the potential for tornadoes. Heavy rainfall, 1 to 2 inches, could cause some flash flooding in low-lying areas.

The Senior Resource Center’s in-person nutrition meals for the Katie B. Hines Center ub Carolina Beach) and Castle Hayne will be served from 11 a.m. to noon. Drive-up meals for Castle Hayne and the Davis Center at Maides Park will not be available.

The county’s essential emergency services will operate normally.
