One dead, one injured in stabbing incident on Carolina Beach Road

[Ed. note: The WPD released on Monday that the injuries of victims may not have been due to a stabbing but a hit-and-run instead.]

WILMINGTON — Law enforcement is investigating an altercation between two individuals that led to one death.

Shortly after 6:20 p.m. Sunday, Wilmington Police Department officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of Carolina Beach Road and Marion Drive in reference to a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located two males suffering from stab wounds.

Both men were also struck by a vehicle while in the roadway.

One was transported to Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center and the other succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

Traffic is being diverted while officers investigate. Carolina Beach Road from Raleigh Street to Holbrooke Avenue is shut down.

This is an ongoing investigation and appears to be an isolated incident, according to the WPD. Anyone with information is asked to call WPD at 910-343-3609 or use the anonymous Tip 411 app.
