Male dead following domestic violence-related incident

[Update: The homicide victim has been identified as 33-year-old Anthony Parker]

WILMINGTON — A male is dead following a domestic violence incident Thursday evening. Local law enforcement is investigating the homicide that took place off Kerr Avenue.

Wilmington Police Department officers responded to a call regarding a domestic dispute at an apartment in the 600 block of Plum Nearly Lane. A female 911 caller said she had been attacked by a male and when officers arrived they learned the female had fired a shot at him.

The officers also determined the two were in a domestic relationship. Upon arrival, the male was suffering from a gunshot wound, located across the parking lot from where the apartment the female called 911 from. He was deceased.

WPD is investigating the case, but there is no danger to the public as this was an isolated event between two people who knew one another.

At this time WPD is not releasing the names of those involved but anticipates more information at a later date.

According to WPD’s release, half of the homicides in Wilmington this year have been domestic violence related. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, call local law enforcement, contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233, or seek service or shelter with the Domestic Violence Services and Shelter Inc. at 2901 Market St.
