Victim identified in deadly Wilmington shooting

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man dead on Saturday evening.

A 29-year-old male, Shaquaunn Lamar Shuford, was killed in Creekwood. Officers found him in the 1100 block of Steward Circle around 11:15 p.m. on Sept. 3.

The police were responding to a call for service when they heard gunfire nearby. They located Shuford suffering from gunshot wounds; he was transported by EMS to Novant Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. 

The case continues to be investigated and no further information that can be released at this time.
