Wilmington man charged in stabbing incident

Ronnie Oxendine, 62, is being charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

WILMINGTON — Officers have charged a 62-year-old local man Thursday for an incident that occurred earlier in the day.

Ronnie Oxendine was charged by the Wilmington Police Department for assault with a deadly weapon. He was given a $5,000 secured bond and is currently being held at the New Hanover County Detention Center.

The victim he stabbed, who officers also say Oxendine knew, is identified as 37-year-old Jayson Everly. He remains in the hospital being treated for life-threatening injuries.
