Bridge replacement to begin Monday in Pender County

PENDER COUNTY —  Part of N.C. 11 will close for several months while crews from N.C. Department of Transportation replace a bridge.

Starting Monday, 8 a.m., construction will take place on the highway bridge over Crooked Run. According to NCDOT, the bridge is at the end of its serviceable life.

A new bridge will be wider, with drainage and guardrail updates.

Construction is to take place for several months, detouring drivers onto Garden and Pelham roads, accessing either side of the closure. Motorists should move through the work zones with caution.

The new bridge will reopen in spring 2024.
