WILMINGTON — The National Junior College Athletic Association inducted 11 Cape Fear Community College student-athletes to its 2022-2023 All-Academic team, recognizing individuals with a 3.6 grade point average or above.
“This accomplishment exemplifies their dedication to their teams and highlights their unwavering commitment to academic excellence,” CFCC Director of Athletics Ryan Mantio said in a press release.
Students are split into first, second, and third teams, with student-athletes ranging from three different sports.
First team students with a 4.0 GPA or higher feature athletes from multiple sports: volleyball athletes sophomore Madie Ballou and freshman London Ipsen, and freshman Lauren Laux representing women’s soccer.
The second team features students from volleyball, women’s soccer, and men’s soccer, with a GPA of 3.8 through 3.99 – freshman Leah Davis (Volleyball) , sophomore Maddie Lewis (women’s soccer) and freshman Justine Moesch (women’s soccer) and freshman Connor Hope (men’s soccer).
The third team represents students with a GPA from 3.6 to 3.99 – freshman Abby Morse and Nora Pitt (both volleyball), sophomore Shaylin Pollock (women’s basketball) and freshman Saul Juarez (men’s soccer).
“I am immensely proud of our student-athletes who have made the All-Academic Team,” CFCC President Jim Morton said in the release. “The recognition they have received is a testament to the hard work and the support of their coaches, instructors, and staff. I congratulate each of them on this achievement.”
