Pender man faces 20 counts of child pornography

PENDER COUNTY — A man has been charged with more than a dozen crimes that involve accessing images of child pornography.

On June 26, the Pender County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jeffery Dewayne Goodwin of Burgaw. The 52-year-old aces 20 counts of felony second-degree sexual exploitation of minors.

The PCSO said an investigation has been underway after a report was made to the that indicated Goodwin had accessed images of children engaged in sexual activity.

Law enforcement made the arrest at Goodwin’s residence; he is being held at the Pender County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond.

Pender County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with tips or information about Goodwin to contact Detective-Sergeant Steve Clinard at 910-259-1437.
