Monday, June 19
The Pender County Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 12 p.m. to discuss the three-tier bell schedule. Meetings can be livestreamed here.
The Kure Beach Town Council will meet at 6 p.m. at the town hall building, 117 Settlers Lane. The agenda includes:
- A legislative hearing on various text amendments to the town code
- Adoption of FY23-24 budget ordinance and fee schedule
Pender County Board of Commissioners will meet at 4 p.m. at Pender County Public Assembly Room, 805 S. Walker St. in Burgaw. The meeting can be livestreamed here. A few items on the agenda include:
- Approval of the fiscal year 2023-2024 budget and capital improvement projects plan

The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. at the NHC Historic Courthouse, 24 North Third St. The meeting can be livestreamed on NHCTV and YouTube. A few items on the agenda include:
- A presentation of propose workforce housing services program two
- Consideration of a resolution recognizing the Williston Legacy Graduation
- Consideration of Juneteenth proclamation
The Brunswick County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. at the Sandifer Administration Building, 30 Government Center Drive NE in Bolivia. A few items on the agenda include:
- Fiscal Year 2024 Budget and Budget Ordinance

Tuesday, June 20
Wilmington City Council will hold an agenda briefing at 8:30 a.m. at city hall, 102 N. Third St. The meeting can be livestreamed on GTV8 and YouTube.
The New Hanover County Board of Education Policy Committee will meet at 10 a.m. in the Board of Education Center, 1805 S. 13th St. Meetings can be livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- Policy 2120: Code of Ethics for Board Members
- Policy 3610: Counseling Program
The Surf City Beautification and Enhancement Committee will meet at 4:30 p.m. at the Surf City Municipal Complex, 214 W. Florence Way.
The North Topsail Beach Beach Inlet Sound Committee will meet at 10:30 a.m. The agenda can be found here.
The Topsail Beach Board of Adjustment will meet at 2 p.m. at town hall, 820 S. Anderson Blvd. The meeting can be livestreamed here. The agenda includes a variance request submitted by Thomas Tucker for 634 Davis Ave.

- The second reading and approval of the fiscal year 2023-2024 budget. Read more here.
- Ordinance reducing the speed limit from 35 mph to 25 mph along all streets in the River’s Edge neighborhood. Read concerns from neighbors living in this vicinity.
- Resolution to request $960,000 in STBG-DA funding from WMPO, with a required $240,000 local grant, for the Hooker Road and Hinton Avenue multi-use paths and the Wrightsville Avenue and Greenville Avenue intersection

The Oak Island Town Council will meet at 6 p.m. at town hall, 3601 E. Oak Island Drive. Meetings can be livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- Public hearings on two text amendments to the town code
- Consideration of formally establishing the speed limit for the portion of Airport Road within the Town of Oak Island’s corporate limits
The Brunswick County Board of Elections meets at 2 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Chambers, 30 Government Center Dr. in Bolivia. It’s open to the public; no new items of business were posted on the agenda by press, but the public is still welcome to comment in person or virtually here.
Wednesday, June 21
The New Hanover County Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 8:30 a.m. to undergo a student assignment appeal hearing orientation. Meetings can be livestreamed here. The agenda can be viewed here.
The Pender County Board of Adjustment will meet at 9 a.m. at the Pender County Public Assembly Room, 805 S. Walker St. in Burgaw. The meeting can be livestreamed here. One item on the agenda is an appeal of a zoning violation by Wooten Holding So. for failure to adhere to conditions of a special-use permit.
The Surf City Board of Adjustment will meet at 3 p.m. at the Surf City Municipal Complex, 214 W. Florence Way. An agenda was not posted by press.
The Wilmington Design Adjustment Committee will meet at 1:30 p.m. at city hall, 102 N. Third St. The meeting can be livestreamed on GTV8 and YouTube. The two items on the agenda include:
- A request from Los Portales Supermarket at 9 Sunnyvale Road for design adjustment for minimum driveway offset from the property lines
- A request by Midtown Junction for waivers and adjustments for a multiple-dwelling project at 3930 Independence Boulevard and 3818 Carolina Beach Road.
The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners and New Hanover County Airport Authority will hold a joint special meeting at 8:30 a.m. in the second floor conference room of the WIlmington International Airport, 1740 Airport Blvd. The airport authority will provide its annual report.
Brunswick Water and Sewer H2GO will hold its regular board meeting at 6 p.m. at Belville Town Hall, 63 River Road SE. Items on the agenda include:
- A water shortage response plan
- A fiscal year 2023 budget ordinance amendment and a fiscal year 2024 budget ordinance
A formal budget will be adopted by the New Hanover County Tourism Development Authority. The meeting is open to the public at 5 p.m. on the first floor of the River Room, 1 Estell Lee Place. Interested parties that want to speak can sign up at 4:30 before the meeting.
A special meeting is being called between the Airport Authority and the NHC Board of Commissioners. The joint meeting will take place at 8:30 a.m. in the second floor conference room of the Wilmington International Airport, 1740 Airport Boulevard. The authority will present its annual report to the commissioners.
The Southport Board of Aldermen will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. in the Southport Community Building, 223 E. Bay St., to conduct a final review and adoption of the FY23-24 budget. Meetings can be livestreamed here. The budget can be viewed here.
Thursday, June 22
The Wrightsville Beach Board of Aldermen will meet at 5:30 p.m. at town hall, 321 Causeway Drive. Meetings can be livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- A public hearing on the proposed FY23-24 budget
- Resolution to amend the official pier head line map to extend the pier head line between lots 17-32 on Point Place and Shore drives
The North Carolina State Ports Authority Board of Directors will meet in person at 9:00 a.m. in the Board Room of the North Carolina Maritime Building, 2202 Burnett Boulevard. Members of the public may join in person.
The Town of Burgaw Planning and Zoning Board meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Historic Train Depot, 115 S. Dickerson St. An agenda was not posted by press.
The Topsail Island Shoreline Protection Commission will meet at 2 p.m. at Surf City Municipal Complex, 214 W. Florence Way. The agenda and a WebEx link to livestream the meeting will be available on the website prior to the meeting.
Cape Fear Transportation Authority — Wave Transit — will meet at 12:30 p.m. at Forden Station, 505 Cando St. Items on the agenda include the 2024 budget adoption and reports by staff, including on MicroTransit operations. The meeting is open to the public but not livestreamed.
