No. 6 Most Read Story of 2021: Gov. Cooper announces plan to get vaccines into arms

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — As part of our countdown to 2022, Port City Daily is revisiting its most read stories of the year.

Coming in sixth is one of the last stories Port City Daily reported on in 2020, covering the revisions in Gov. Cooper’s vaccine rollout plan.

Cooper and N.C. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Mandy Cohen were hosting weekly press conferences during this time last year, as the first Covid-19 vaccines were being distributed to health departments and hospitals statewide.

The phased plan to get shots into arms started with healthcare workers and vaccine administrators before opening to adults 75 and older and other frontline essential workers by mid-January. In April, everyone was able to get a shot across the state.
