WILMINGTON –– The Wave Transit Port City Trolley expanded its downtown route Wednesday.
Several new downtown stops are now incorporated in the free trolley, including the Wilmington Convention Center, Wilmington Railroad Museum, Riverfront Park, and several waterfront hotels.
The trolley will continue to host the same hours and service frequency at stops along Nutt Street downtown.
A new overhead sign, displays, and wall mural designed by Kevin Jones of ARTphics, Inc. will welcome passengers onto the trolley at the Wilmington Convention Center.
Before this week’s expansion, the previous route expansions for the Port City Trolley were piloted in 2018, with the most favorable route selected and implemented in October 2018, opening it up to five outlying districts, including Brooklyn Arts, North Waterfront, Central Business, Castle Street, and South Front.
At 25 stops total, passengers can climb aboard or hop off at any stop they please. View a map of the full route schedule. The Port City Trolley runs weekdays from 7:20 a.m. to 8 p.m. every 40 minutes and on weekends from 10:40 a.m. to 6 p.m. every 40 minutes. View a full timepoint schedule.
