Wilmington Police: A man is dead after early morning Creekwood shooting

WILMINGTON — A 45-year-old man was killed in a shooting early Friday morning.

Wilmington Police officers responded to a ShotSpotter notification around 6:40 a.m. to the Creekwood South housing community.

Officers found the man dead on the scene, surrounded by a crowd of onlookers. EMT transported the body from the scene.

WPD will not release the name of the victim until the family or next of kin is notified. WPD is still investigating the case and encourages anyone with information to contact (910)-343-3609 or use tip708.com to share information anonymously.
