WILMINGTON — Police have arrested Courtney Antwain McNeil in relation to a shooting that took place Monday on Rankin Street.
“The victim of that shooting is currently in stable condition. McNeil was arrested during a traffic stop conducted by the Wilmington Police Department Mobile Field Force (MFF) team in the 200 block of S. 6th Street around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. During the stop, police discovered a pound of marijuana and a firearm, and the vehicle’s other two occupants (McNeil’s brothers) were arrested on related charges,” according to police.
This isn’t the first time McNeil was charged with a shooting, either.
“McNeil was arrested in October of 2019 for the shooting of a 14-year-old in the Houston Moore community on October 9; however, charges were dropped due to a lack of cooperation from the victim. McNeil was released from custody,” according to police.
This time, McNeil was charged with attempted murder; the other two passengers were charged with multiple other crimes.
