BOLIVIA — One week after identifying a Covid-19 outbreak in a Bolivia assisted living facility, Brunswick County has shared an update, bringing the total number of positive cases at the facility to 24.

Seventeen of the positive cases are the Universal Health Care of Brunswick’s residents. According to Brunswick County, all are reported to be “doing well.”

All residents who tested positive are staying in isolated rooms in a dedicated section of the building, according to a Wednesday Brunswick County release. Two dedicated staff members only work in this section to prevent the spread from positive cases to unaffected residents in other areas of the facility.

Of the seven employees that have tested positive to date, all are isolating at home, according to the release.

When the county first announced the outbreak on June 13, it said the facility had put in place strong preventative measures in line with county and state guidance.

As of June 19, Brunswick County has 305 positive cases of Covid-19, with 149 recovered. The county has added on an additional 109 new cases since June 12, when the outbreak was first identified.

The county’s first outbreak in a congregate living setting was announced June 4 at Autumn Care in Shallotte, with two cases among employees and one resident testing positive. Since the announcement, the county has not shared an update indicating whether cases are stable or growing at this facility.
