WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — Former City of Wilmington Chief of Police Ralph Evangelous did not make it long into retirement before agreeing to a new job — as interim police chief for the Town of Wrightsville Beach.
“Ret. Chief of Police Ralph Evangelous has been appointed to serve as the Interim Chief of Police for the Town of Wrightsville Beach effective immediately. Chief Evangelous served as Wilmington’s Chief of Police for over 15.5 years. During that time, he is credited to have accomplished several major improvements and contributions to the community,” according to a press release from the town.
Former Wrightsville Beach Police Chief Daniel House announced his departure from the beach town last month; his last day is tomorrow, March 27.
House is leaving the department to serve as the Chief of Police for the NC State University Police Department.
The town is currently in the process of hiring a full-time replacement for House, according to the press release.
