New Hanover Chairwoman Julia Olson-Boseman gives Covid-19 update, still no cases [Free read]

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — New Hanover County Chairwoman Julia Olson-Boseman gave residents an update on the county’s efforts related to the novel coronavirus.

Boseman confirmed there have been several tests taken in the county and so far, there are zero confirmed cases of Covid-19 in New Hanover County.

“As of today, our public health department is aware of 28 Covid-19 tests that have been taken in New Hanover County. Two tests have gone from Public Health to the state, and are pending, 26 tests have gone through private labs from physicians offices, there are a handful of tests pending currently,” Boseman said.”

Starting tomorrow, March 17, the county will set up a call center fielded by the public health department specifically for the coronavirus. Residents can call with questions about the virus, the number is 910-798-6800.

Along with the call center, New Hanover County health is going to implement a new plan to deploy health center nurses directly to residents to help prevent the spread of any illnesses and limit person-to-person contact. More information on this plan will be released later in the week, she said.
