WILMINGTON — Frank Christopher Meares announced earlier this month he is running for a seat on the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners.
Three seats are up for election in 2020, two of the seats are uncontested as current commissioners Woody White and Patricia Kusek have both announced they will not seek reelection; Commissioner Jonathan Barfield has filed to run for reelection.
Meares, a Republican, is currently serving as one of the county’s three elected Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisors. He is also a former GOP precinct chairman.
Meares and his wife, Christy, live in Wilmington; they have one son.
According to Meares, he is running “because he feels that New Hanover County needs new leadership that will listen to the people and he will work to resolve their issues.”
