Another shooting near downtown Wilmington, one victim sent to the hospital

WILMINGTON — A series of shooting continue in Wilmington, bringing the total to six incidents with at least six victims.

On Sunday, around 11 a.m., Wilmington police officers responded to calls concerning a shooting near 6th and Swann streets, just east of the Brooklyn Arts District.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, “upon arrival, they found a 27-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. An officer applied a tourniquet and stayed with the victim until EMS arrived and transported him to NHRMC with non-life-threatening injuries.”

Since Friday, November 22, a series of shootings between 17th Street and 6th Street has left a half-dozen people wounded, at least three seriously. WPD has made one arrest — a validated gang member suspected of a lunchtime shooting on Red Cross Street on Tuesday — but continues to investigate all of the incidents.
