WILMINGTON — The Partnership Advisory Group (PAG) formed to advise county and hospital officials on future options for the New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) will meet on Tuesday. The meeting will be open to the public, but the PAG will not be taking questions.
According to the county, “the Partnership Advisory Group was created to begin a research phase to understand what options exist for NHRMC, including a potential sale, other partnerships and models, and an evaluation of options for NHRMC to remain county-owned. The group includes nine community members, five physicians, and five members of NHRMC’s Board of Trustees. More information, including a biography of each member, can be found at NHRMCfuture.org.”
Tuesday’s meeting will be an “orientation meeting,” and will not have any allotted time for public comment or questions. According to the county, a schedule of future meetings will be released following this meeting.
According to the county, “the Partnership Advisory Group will be charged with helping to develop priorities for the Request for Proposal (RFP), selecting a minimum of five health systems that will receive the RFP, evaluating the proposals received and examining the options for maintaining county ownership. The advisory group will then provide a recommendation on next steps to the Board of Commissioners and NHRMC Board of Trustees. A recommendation could include negotiating with one or more systems regarding proposals or pursuing other ways to support NHRMC as a county-owned hospital.”
County officials have pledged that the process, which is expected to take at least a year, will be transparent. This will include publicly posting the RFP and proposals submitted. The county is also working on ways to manage questions and comments from the public for the PAG.
The first meeting of the Partnership Advisory Group will be Tuesday, October 29 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in the Andre’ Mallette Training Center at the New Hanover County Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive, Suite 135.
