
SOUTHEAST N.C. — Hurricane Dorian came and went and unlike last year, the storm caused relatively minor damage to the region which means school is back in session starting Monday.
New Hanover County Schools

“Cape Fear Community College will resume normal operations on Monday, September 9, 2019, at all campus locations. All CFCC classes, activities and events will meet as scheduled,” according to a statement from the college.
Brunswick County Schools
Brunswick County Schools will resume normal schedules on Monday at all locations.
According to a statement from the school system, “Our schools suffered minimal damage from Hurricane Dorian, all things considered, and will open our doors to students to pick up where we started. A huge THANK YOU to the dedicated staff, custodial and operations, who are making sure the schools are ready to go for all students and staff. We are truly grateful for what you do to make sure all campuses have the safest learning environment possible. ”
Pender County Schools
School is back in Pender County as well starting Monday.
“Thanks to the tireless efforts of our PCS staff and collaboration with county and state officials, we are happy to announce that all schools will be open Monday morning for students and staff in Pender County. We look forward to welcoming our students back after Hurricane Dorian and are thankful that we could return to class in a timely manner,” the county’s website states.
UNCW
The University of North Carolina Wilmington evacuated last week ahead of the storm but the campus will reopen to students on Sunday.
According to a Facebook post from the school, “You may return to residence halls beginning at 12 p.m. on Sunday; without exception, access to residence halls will not be permitted before that time. Classes will resume Monday morning. Please check the websites of individual campus services regarding their reopening and hours.”
