Police respond to Shotspotter notification near downtown Wilmington, one shooting victim taken to hospital

WILMINGTON — An overnight shooting left one man injured, the Wilmington Police Department is asking the public for help in identifying the shooter.

The incident occurred early Thursday morning off Queen Street.

“Officers responded to the 700 block of Queen Street just before 1 a.m. Thursday in reference to a ShotSpotter notification of gunfire. While officers were on-scene, the victim called 911 from another location advising he had been shot,” according to a WPD press release. 

“EMS transported the 40-year-old victim to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Anyone with information should contact the Wilmington Police Department at 910.343.3609 or use Text A Tip,” the release concludes.
