New Hanover Sheriff’s Office searching for suspect who fled Brunswick authorities

WILMINGTON — Authorities from Brunswick and New Hanover counties are searching for a Wilmington man currently fleeing from a warrant served on him.

According to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office (NHCSO), 40-year-old Wilmington-area resident Jamil Shaund’e Hicks was last seen in the Castle Hayne Area. Hicks fled Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies who attempted to stop his vehicle on I-140 heading east into New Hanover County. According to BCSO, Hicks was driving recklessly, traveling at least 15 miles per hour over the speed limit.

Hicks then fled on foot into the Castle Hayne area, according to NHCSO.

Both Sheriff’s Offices are searching for Hicks, although the warrant for his arrest is from Brunswick authorities.

Hicks has prior convictions for felony drug possession.
