WILMINGTON — Wilmington Police responded to an incident at Arby’s on Shipyard Boulevard after a discussion between a former employee and an assistant manager got heated.

According to police spokeswoman Jennifer Dandron, an ex-employee of Arby’s was speaking with an assistant manager at the Shipyard Boulevard location around 4:45 p.m. when an argument occurred. The ex-employee’s girlfriend pulled out a pellet gun and started shooting — she shot the manager and two windows causing them to break.

Jessica Thomas, 18, of New Hanover County then fled the scene in a car along with her boyfriend.

“Later that night WPD secured warrants for assault with a deadly weapon, property damage, and discharging a pellet gun in city limits,” Dandron said.

Thomas was arrested by New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputies Tuesday evening. The assistant manager was hit with the pellets and sustained minor injuries.
