Wilmington police ask for help identifying suspect in Sunday morning robbery

WILMINGTON — Authorities are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who robbed a convenience store near New Hanover Regional Medical Center this morning.

According to the Wilmington Police Department (WPD), the Phoenix Mart at 2238 S. 17th St. was robbed around 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, March 31. The suspect did not display a weapon, but implied that he was armed, WPD said. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken in the robbery.

WPD describe the suspect as a black male, around 40 years old, bald, with a goatee, 5 foot, 10 to 11 inches tall, and weighing between 170 and 190 pounds. According to WPD, the suspect fled the scene in a gold SUV>
